“Outdoor Actives” got its start from a simple typo. Matt was throwing together an email group for advertising his latest weekend idea and mistyped “outdoor activities.” He liked the look of the wrong word, and Outdoor Actives began. Basically, we’re just a bunch of folks that met at grad school or down at the Ironworks climbing gym in Berkeley, CA. We are the stereotypical weekend warriors, using our work week to recover from whatever we’ve done to ourselves while hiking, climbing, peak-bagging, mountaineering, snowshoeing, snow boarding, skiing, whatever.
My name is Chari .... and with Matt’s mishap I created the Outdoor Actives site. My thought was to share our travails with families and friends.

2008 note: You’ve probably noticed our web site has been a little static of late. We’ve started another Sierra adventure! Sierra Ava, that is, and she’s taking up a lot of our time these days. Stay tuned, we hope to fill in some blank spots left behind, and soon we hope to add more!
