Matt asked everyone to hike Mt. Lola with him on Saturday and everyone but Liz flaked out at the last minute – ooops. Anyhow, Mike, Tanja, Jen and I headed for Mt. St. Helena on Sunday. We were to meet Matt at the base of Mt. St. Helena but he didn’t make it there on time – he blamed it on the winding roads….hhhmmmmmm …

This time we decided we’d stay on the Bubble, we started on a 5.9 and The Ladder (5.9) then we Face #2 (5.7), a very easy face climb which Tanja also lead after me. And while Jen top roped this route, we had Matt belay her while Tanja and I got the balloons and cake ready for her birthday celebration – we sang to her as she was lowered by Matt. To finish off the day, Mike led Bubble Boy (5.11a), which has a sweet heel hook in the middle of all these ginormous huecos. Again, Matt followed and cleaned, for his first free rappel.
